Solaris signs its first Canadian contract for trolleybus deliveries

A year and a half ago, Solaris announced that its 2023-2026 Strategic Plan included the company’s entrance in the North American market, with a value proposition consisting of pure zero-emission buses (ZEBs). Solaris has just achieved another milestone step towards the execution of its strategy, signing the first contract for trolleybus deliveries in Canada, to TransLink in Vancouver.

Solaris' first contract in Canada involves the delivery of 107 units of 12-meter trolleybuses. The agreement also includes options for up to 201 units of 12-meter trolleybuses and up to 204 units of 18-meter articulated trolleybuses.

The first deliveries of trolleybuses to Vancouver, as per the agreement, are scheduled for 2026, with continued deliveries in 2027.

To date, Solaris has delivered over 5,500 zero-emission vehicles, including battery electric buses, hydrogen buses, and trolleybuses operating in over 30 countries. Solaris is the European market leader for trolley buses, holding over 60% of the market in 2024, and having delivered so far almost 2,500 vehicles.

In 2017, the Solaris Urbino 12 electric (40ft battery electric bus) was awarded the Bus of the Year title, and in 2024, the Solaris Urbino 18 hydrogen (60ft fuel cell electric vehicle) was selected as the Bus of The Year 2025 in Europe.
