In September 2013, Solaris signed a contract for the delivery of 100 low-floor Urbino to ESHOT - the municipal bus operator of Izmir. It was Solaris’s first order from the Turkish market. During the last couple of days, Solaris delivered the first batch of 30 buses which have already started their service on the streets of Izmir.

All low-floor buses for Izmir are equipped with air-conditioning and are fitted with Euro 5 engines. According to local tradition, the vehicles were given their own name and are now known in Izmir as Swans, which refers to their colour, length and design. The first batch of 30 buses arrived in Izmir in February this year and a second batch is planned for March. The contract will be completed in April 2014 with the delivery of the remaining 40 buses.

Those words find their confirmation in opinions shared by the city’s inhabitants and drivers who have already discovered the advantages of the Urbino buses recently delivered to Izmir.
ESHOT is a bus company owned by Izmir Municipality. Its fleet is composed of over 1600 buses which cover 320 bus routes in Izmir, the third most populous city in Turkey after Istanbul and Ankara.
