Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. and public transport operator Dopravní podnik hlavního města Prahy (DPP) signed an implementing agreement for the delivery of 20 buses of the MIDI-class and 6 sets of diagnostic equipment and software, worth in total over PLN 18 million (ca. EUR 4 million).

The concluded agreement is part of a framework contract, signed in February this year, for the delivery of up to 40 Solaris buses of the Urbino 10,5 type, of a maximum of 35 sets of diagnostic equipment and software, of a maximum of 6 sets of maintenance service equipment for diagnostics and filling an air conditioning compressor with refrigerant and of up to 7 test sets of a passenger information system. The total value of the framework contract settled at over PLN 38 million (ca. EUR 8,6 million).

The provider of public transport in Prague opted for low-floor Solaris Urbino 10,5 of the MIDI-class. The Urbino 10,5 bus premièred in October 2016 during the Transexpo fair in Kielce. The model excels in manoeuvrability, which makes it perform outstandingly on the narrow streets of numerous European cities. The over 130 units of the Urbino 10,5 type that have been manufactured so far carry passengers in Austria, Germany, France, Norway, Slovakia and Poland.

The buses for DPP will be fitted with cutting-edge 204 kW diesel motors complying with the Euro 6 emission standard. The Urbino 10,5 will be able to carry up to 86 passengers at a time, of which 25 will travel seated. For increased comfort of passengers and drivers these modern vehicles will be equipped with numerous amenities such as air conditioning, a video surveillance system and a comprehensive passenger information system.

The deliveries are slated for mid-December this year. In Prague, the buses will operate on bus routes 101 (Zentiva – Tolstého) and 138 (Sídliště Skalka - Ústavy Akademie věd).

These are not the first buses that Solaris will deliver to Prague. In the years 2012-2015 the Prague operator DPP purchased 40 Urbino 8,9 LE made by the Polish manufacturer. DPP is the biggest municipal transport operator in the Czech Republic possessing a fleet of about 1000 buses.
