On Wednesday, 23 May, representatives of Solaris Bus & Coach signed a deal in Ostróda, for the supply of 12 new buses, including two electric drive ones, with the Ostróda municipal authorities.
Signed on behalf of the city by Czesław Najmowicz, mayor of Ostróda, the contract concerns the supply of ten 12-metre buses with a conventional drive, and two electric models: the Urbino 8.9 LE electric. In line with the contractual stipulations, the first half of the order, i.e. five Urbino 12 vehicles and one electric bus shall be supplied in May 2019, whereas the second one will be delivered in May 2020. The total value of the order amounts to over PLN 16 million.
Ostróda is a new client for Solaris. Thanks to the implementation of a contract signed on Wednesday, nearly all of the city's fleet will be constituted by vehicles with the green dachshund logo. The buses delivered to Ostróda will go to the operator Żegluga Ostródzka-Elbląska, which is responsible for the servicing of communication in the city. Apart from bus communication, the city operator owns also inland boats, which it uses to swim along the historic Elblag canal.
The electric Solaris Urbino 8.9 LE electric will be powered by means of a central motor of 160 kW. The traction batteries of up to 160 kWh will be charged via a plug-in system and with an on-board charger of 40 kW.
In order to raise the comfort of travellers, the passenger space will be air-conditioned in all vehicles irrespective of the drive type, as will be the driver’s compartment. The vehicle will also feature a voice announcement system, a monitoring system and a system of passenger information.
