Solaris Bus & Coach strengthens its position in the Baltic states. Rigas Satiksme, the municipal public transport operator of the Latvian capital, has ordered 175 diesel buses from Solaris. Solaris will also participate in deliveries of 125 trolleybuses to Riga together with the company Škoda Electric. The contracts are to be completed in tranches between 2014 and 2018.
Solaris Bus & Coach strengthens its position in the Baltic states. Rigas Satiksme, the municipal public transport operator of the Latvian capital, has ordered 175 diesel buses from Solaris. Solaris will also participate in deliveries of 125 trolleybuses to Riga together with the company Škoda Electric.The contracts are to be completed in tranches between 2014 and 2018.
The contract for the delivery of 175 diesel buses includes 115 Solaris Urbino 18 articulated buses and 60 Solaris Urbino 12 solo buses. The vehicles will be produced independently by Solaris. They will be equipped with engines meeting the Euro 6 emissions standards which will enter into force in January 2014. The remaining 125 articulated trolleybuses will be produced by Solaris in cooperation with Škoda Electric. The contracts have an option to increase the orders by 30%.

So far, 253 Solaris vehicles have been delivered to Latvia, of which 223 were bought by Rigas Satiksme. This number includes both buses and trolleybuses. Besides the capital city, Solaris vehicles operate in Daugavpils.
