amp; Coach and of Izmir’s municipal bus operator ESHOT signed an agreement for the delivery of 100 Solaris low-floor city buses.
The order is the first that Solaris has received on the Turkish market. All 100 buses will be 18-metre articulated vehicles. They will have low floors throughout the entire bus and will be equipped with air-conditioning and engines meeting the Euro 5 emissions standard. Delivery will take place in the first months of 2014.
"Winning this tender on the highly competitive Turkish market, which is dominated by local manufacturers, is a formidable success for us. At the same time, the supply of such a large number of buses is a big challenge and responsibility. However, I can assure our business partners in Izmir as well as the city’s inhabitants that they will soon be able to enjoy buses of highest international standards, as people in more than 500 cities in Europe and beyond", said Dariusz Michalak Deputy CEO of Solaris company.
ESHOT is owned by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and provides bus services throughout the city. Its fleet has a strength of 1,600 buses, which operate 320 routes.
With over three million inhabitants, Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey. Located on the west coast of the Gulf of Izmir agglomeration, it is the country’s most important trade port after Istanbul.
