Recent weeks have been particularly memorable in the history of Solaris. In May, the 25,000th bus produced in the manufacturer’s factory rolled off the production line. The anniversary vehicle turned out to be the Urbino 12 electric built for the ATM Milano fleet. At the same time, the company celebrated the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Urbino brand.
Solaris has already produced 25,000 vehicles for its customers. Hydrogen, electric, hybrid, CNG and diesel-powered buses and trolleybuses run in the fleets of carriers from more than 850 cities in 32 countries. The jubilee Solaris is a 12-meter Urbino electric in the colors of the Milan public transport operator ATM. The cooperation with the Italian carrier has been going on for 10 years, during which the manufacturer has delivered 450 buses and trolleybuses to Milan.
The production mix in the factory in Bolechowo is changing noticeably every year. Last year, the share of low- and zero-emission vehicles in sales and production exceeded 80%. These data perfectly reflect the pace of changes in public transport throughout Europe.
“Having the experience of producing 25,000 urban vehicles, we serve with knowledge, commitment, and support like no one else. At the same time, we observe that the electrification of urban transport is definitely accelerating. Our company is successively expanding its production resources with additional halls and positions dedicated to electric and hydrogen buses. We have been perfecting our emission-free solutions for a long time and we are ready for these changes,” says Mateusz Figaszewski from Solaris Bus & Coach.
The end of May also marked another special occasion: the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Urbino brand. The first Solaris Urbino, a low-floor city bus, was unveiled to the public on May 26, 1999, at the Poznań Motor Show. Today, Solaris Urbino is a well-recognized brand among drivers and passengers throughout Europe. “Thanks to the commitment of our entire team, the Solaris Urbino is today synonymous with the modern face of public transportation. For now – in Europe, but we are working intensively so that the qualities of our brand can soon be appreciated also by carriers from North America,” Mateusz Figaszewski emphasized.
