The 2023 UITP Global Public Transport Summit takes place on 4-7 June. This year, representatives from the public transport sector will head to Barcelona. As part of its presence at the summit, Solaris Bus & Coach will demonstrate its most popular model, the Urbino 12 electric, manufactured to order for carrier TMB Barcelona.
Solaris Urbino 12 electric at UITP 2023
At this year’s UITP Global Summit, Solaris will showcase its 12-metre Urbino electric bus, which was delivered to TMB Barcelona earlier this year, an operator providing public transport services in the city hosting the summit. The bus is equipped with all the requisite state-of-the-art technological e-mobility features, such as efficient next-generation batteries and innovative driver assistance systems. The vehicle, which is part of the city’s fleet, is an example of a battery-powered bus that offers the operator a convenient, all-day range. With an electric vehicle, such operability is possible due to modern batteries and a possibility of charging the batteries via a pantograph during the day. Barcelona is a city that has successfully integrated charging stations into its urban infrastructure.
Solaris as part of Spotlight-Forum Sessions
Apart from the presentation of its bus, representatives from Solaris will also take the floor in the capacity of experts during the Spotlight-Forum Sessions. They will share with the Global Summit’s participants their expertise and experience regarding hydrogen buses (presentation by Mateusz Figaszewski, E-mobility Development & Market Intelligence Director, entitled “Accelerating zero-emission bus deployment”) and on battery safety (presentation by Jakub Jóźwiak, After Sales Director, as part of the section “Latest innovations in charging and battery technology for e-buses”).
Press briefing
Solaris also invites you to a press briefing scheduled for the second day of the exhibition, 6th June, 11:00 am, at the company’s stand. During a short press conference, Solaris’s CEO Javier Iriarte will present the latest information on the company and its products.
Leader in zero-emission solutions
Solaris is a European e-mobility leader. This is confirmed by the company having maintained its position as European leader in the zero-emission bus segment from 2012 to 2022, with a total share of 14.1% as of the end of 2022. Based on vehicle registrations in 2022 alone, Solaris was ranked 2nd in the European market for zero-emission, i.e. electric and hydrogen, buses with a market share of 11.2%. What is more, hydrogen is becoming an increasingly important component in the manufacturer’s zero-emission offering. So far, a total of nearly 3000 zero-emission, i. e. electric and hydrogen, vehicles have been delivered or ordered from the bus maker.
Solaris at Busworld 2023
The Global Public Transport Summit in Barcelona is not the only international event the bus maker will attend this year. On 7-12 October, Solaris will be present at the biggest international bus industry fair, Busworld, in Brussels. The manufacturer will showcase its new product, the Solaris Urbino 18 electric bus, which is an articulated e-bus with high-capacity batteries, all mounted on the vehicle’s roof.
