This is the 12th edition of the "Polityka" Polish weekly CSR Leaves competition, in which the leaders of sustainable development among Polish enterprises were awarded. Solaris has been awarded the Silver Leaf for its ESG-related activities. Among the most significant environmental projects implemented by the company were the articulated hydrogen bus, EPD labels obtained for two models and the educational program CityMission. Solaris has received this award for the third time.
For the 12th time, the Polish weekly “Polityka”, Deloitte and the Responsible Business Forum have compiled a list of companies distinguished by their activities in the area of sustainable development. Silver Leafs were awarded to enterprises that declare that they take into account most of the key solutions in the field of sustainable development in their daily activities. These companies are already implementing high-quality solutions and disclosing information related to their ESG activities. Solaris has received this award for the third time.
“As a company setting the direction of activities in electromobility, we also aim to be an example for other enterprises in the field of responsible operations and their impact on the economy, society and the environment. Thank you for this recognition. It provides great motivation to continue our work!” – said Agata Stańda, Board Member for Strategy, Transformation and ESG at Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o.
Solaris submitted three initiatives to the competition, implemented in 2022, which are crucial in introducing specific actions on the path to sustainable development: the articulated hydrogen bus Urbino 18 hydrogen, obtaining EPD labels for two bus models and the educational program CityMission by Solaris. The company's activities significantly support two Sustainable Development Goals: Goal No. 12: Responsible consumption and production and Goal No. 13: Climate action.
The articulated hydrogen bus Urbino 18 hydrogen is the manufacturer's response to the growing market demand for this type of vehicle. The heart of this model is the most advanced hydrogen cell available on the market. Hydrogen is converted into electricity within the cell, which is then transferred to the propulsion system. Thanks to the hydrogen technology used and the increased number of new and lightweight hydrogen tanks, the premiere vehicle will be perfect for long journeys.
The second initiative reported was obtaining EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) labels for two vehicle models. This international environmental label that aims to provide customers with reliable data on the environmental impact of a given product throughout its life cycle. EPD labels have been awarded to the Urbino 18 electric and Urbino 12 hybrid models.
CityMission by Solaris is an educational project with an ecological mission, dedicated to students in grades 1-3 of primary schools. The aim of the program is to enhance environmental awareness among the youngest and encourage them to use public transport. The program consisted of three elements: a creative competition, eco-educational workshops and a city game. CityMision was carried out in Poznań and the Poznań district.
A detailed presentation of the company's ESG projects can be found in the Solaris Sustainability Report. The next edition of the report, for 2022, will be published in the coming weeks.
