Solaris Bus & Coach was awarded with Polish-German Economic Prize in recognition of its achievement on the German market. The award gala took place on 25th November 2011 during the Lower-Silesian Economic Forum, which was organised under the auspices of Polish and German ministries of economy by the Lower-Silesian Foundation of Regional Development.

It is eleven years now since Solaris has started exporting buses to Germany. Today, Polish manufacturer is the biggest foreign supplier to the German market with over 10% market share. The award, which is given to people and companies with outstanding achievement in nurturing Polish-German economic relations, was handed over by Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik, Vice-minister of Economy, Jerzy Tutaj, member of the Lower-Silesia voivodship council and Jarosław Kurzawa, one of the founders and organisers of the economic forum. Jan Olszewski, Director Business Development received the prize on behalf of Solaris.

Waldemar Pawlak, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy congratulated Solange Olszewska, Chairwoman of the Board, Solaris Bus & Coach on the occasion of receiving the award. "Polish Ministry of Economy with great satisfaction observes the success of your company on the foreign markets, especially in Germany, where Solaris earned trust from its customers thanks to its spirit of innovation and high quality of its products".

The jury, part of which are also previous awardees assessed the nominees on the basis of such criteria as financial results, employment, market share, innovation investments and social as well as environmental policies.

Solaris sold the first buses in Germany to a Berlin-based independent transport company. Those were two 12 meter low-floor Solaris Urbino. Currently the total amount of Solaris vehicles in Germany is more than 1,500 units. They operate in almost 100 German cities.

Information Solaris

Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o. is one of the leading producers of city and intercity buses in Europe.
