On 3 June, in the city hall of Kutno, representatives of Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. and Deputy President of Kutno, Jacek Boczkaja signed an agreement for the delivery of six buses of the Solaris Urbino 12 electric type. Worth gross nearly 14 million PLN, the contract will be carried out in two tranches, with 3 zero-emission buses set to arrive in Kutno in March 2020, and another three due to come in August 2020.
Kutno has placed an order for six modern, emission-free electric buses of the Solaris Urbino 12 electric make with the Polish manufacturer. The vehicles will be adapted to bus depot charging via plug-in, as well as fast charging in OppCharge standards – by means of an inverted pantograph lowered from the charging station, onto the roof-mounted contact rails.
The vehicles commissioned by MZK Kutno will be equipped with a range of components that result in the improvement of travel comfort and passenger safety. The following may be counted among these elements: air-conditioning for the whole passenger compartment, a video surveillance system, energy-efficient LED lighting, and USB chargers for mobile devices, installed onboard in the handrails. Neither will the electric buses from Bolechowo lack a fire detection and extinguishing system. In accordance with the order, the producer from near Poznań will fit the vehicles with enclosed driver cabins which are a solution increasing the safety of the vehicle drivers.
Thanks to the contract signed with Solaris, Kutno will become the 19th city in Poland to claim its own electric buses from Bolechowo. All in all, there are now 62 such cities in Europe, ranging from the freezing north, down to the hot south of the continent. The total distance covered by zero-emission vehicles produced by the manufacturer from near Poznań so far, has already exceeded 14 million kilometres.
