In March this year representatives of Solaris Bus & Coach signed the contract for the delivery of 200 Urbino 18 articulated low-floor city buses to the municipal transport operator of Belgrade (GSP Belgrade / ГСПБеоград). On Friday the first ten articulated Urbinos were officially handed over to the customer.

According to the contract schedule, the first buses were delivered to the capital city of Serbia in the first half of August. The next deliveries are scheduled as follows: 45 additional units in August, 45 units in September, 50 units in October and a last delivery of 50 units in November. All Solaris Urbino buses delivered to GSP will be in operation by the end of 2013.

Before deliveries to Belgrade started, Solaris trained drivers and technicians of GSP. Thanks to that, employees of GSP Belgrade could get to know the new vehicles in their fleet in detail.

Solaris will support GSP in servicing and maintenance for two years after delivery. The bus manufacturer has also established a spare parts stock in Belgrade. This solution will guarantee quick and efficient service to the customer.

"We are very satisfied about the quality of the buses that have been delivered and the training provided to our employees", underlined Mr. Milan Sofronic, GSP Technical Director. "Within the next few days, passengers of GSP Belgrade will start to experience the comfort of travelling by our new buses."

The order is the result of a competitive tender process won by Solaris. The €64 million contract was supported from EBRD funds.

The 200 articulated Urbino 18 for Belgrade offer a low floor throughout the entire bus and are fully air-conditioned. Their diesel engines meet the Euro 5 emissions standard. For the safety of passengers, each bus has a CCTV monitoring system with seven cameras.
