Solaris Bus & Coach has won a tender for a delivery of ten electric buses to Warsaw’s public transport operator – Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe (MZA). The new Urbino 12 electric will roll onto the streets of Poland’s capital at the beginning of 2018. This will be the second delivery of battery driven Solaris buses to the largest bus carrier in Poland.
The MZA Warsaw has finished the tender for electric buses delivery. The best offer was presented by Solaris company, which offered ten Urbino 12 new generation electric buses. The key argument for the Warsaw’s transport operator was not only the price offered but also the product’s innovation, quality of the components used, total amount of passengersthe bus can accommodate as well as the capacity of traction batteries.
“I am very pleased with the fact that we can continue our long lasting and fruitful cooperation with the MZA by providing another batch of electric buses. Choosing our buses is an evidence showing that Warsaw not only consistently invests in the purchase of modern, comfortable and environmentally friendly low-floor city buses, but is also doing it in an exceptionally efficient way, setting Europe-wide trends in urban transport," said Solange Olszewska, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach S.A.
The order concerns the new Urbino 12 electric – the winner of the prestigious 2017 best city bus title in the last year’s European Bus of the Year competition.
The MZA Warsaw ordered its first electric buses in November 2014. The supplier of the buses was also Solaris. The electric twelve meter buses from Bolechowo operate on lane 222. The vehicles are characterized by very high technical efficiency and the positive experience of their exploitation allowed the further development of e-mobility in public transport in Poland’s capital city.
