Salzburg AG has been investing in the most innovative and environmentally friendly solutions for public transport for years. The cooperation between Solaris and the Austrian operator started in 2009. Trollino number 1000 is part of twelve trolleybuses which will boost the company’s fleet by next year. With the newest tranche, the number of Trollino in the city will reach thirty-three. Among the vehicles already running on Salzburg’s streets are the very first trolleybuses in the hi-tech MetroStyle design, which Solaris derived from its tram construction. The thousandth Trollino has been manufactured in the same distinguishable urban look.
„It is hard to find a higher recommendation than to be a supplier of trolleybuses to Salzburg AG. I am very proud of the longstanding and fruitful cooperation between our companies. It was the city of Salzburg where the first Trollino in the novel MetroStyle design came out”, said Zbigniew Palenica, Member of the Solaris Bus & Coach Board for Rolling Stock.
The completely low-floor Solaris Trollino 18 MetroStyle is powered with a 250 kW traction motor. In cases where overhead lines cannot be accessed, a 50 kW diesel generator will enable the bus to continue the journey. The air-conditioned passenger compartment is monitored by a CCTV system with four cameras, including two wide-angle devices. To ensure maximum security an additional camera is mounted on the roof keeping track of the pantograph. The supplier of the electric equipment in the vehicle is French-Czech producer Cegelec.
For many years, Solaris Bus & Coach has been the leader in manufacturing trolleybuses in European Union as well as in the EFTA countries. Trollino are present in Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
