The 500th Solaris bus has arrived in the Czech Republic. On Thursday 24th July, Solaris officially delivered its jubilee bus to the Czech market. The Solaris Urbino 18 is one of 36 recently ordered by the city of Brno.

Since 2000, Solaris has delivered 500 buses to the Czech Republic which operate in cities across the country. A recent order for 36 Solaris Urbino articulated buses is the first one placed by Brno’s municipal operator, Dopravní podnik města Brna.

"The Czech Republic was the first foreign market entered by Solaris. In 2000, we delivered a Solaris Urbino 15 to Ostrava. It was a milestone for our company", says Dariusz Michalak, Solaris Deputy CEO. "The delivery of the 500th Solaris bus to the Czech Republic is a great success for us - it shows the efficiency, reliability and quality we offer. At the same time it is a motivation to continuously reach for new goals", Michalak adds.

In 2001, Solaris established its subsidiary Solaris Czech in Ostrava, which is responsible for sales and after-sales activities on this market as well as delivering spare parts. The 500th Solaris low-floor bus on the Czech market is equipped with a 231 kW diesel engine and a Voith DIWA 5 gear box. Solaris buses have previously been delivered to Ostrava, Pardubice, Pilsen, Prague and Teplice, among other cities.
