The deliveries of new buses for the residents of Cracow have begun. On July 19, Jacek Majchrowski, the President of Cracow and the board of the city’s transport operator, presented 38 new articulated Solaris vehicles, which began to carry passengers on the same day on lines 105, 164, 179 and 184.
Each of the 38 new buses is equipped with an engine that meets the highest European environmental Euro 6 standards. Specification of the vehicles includes an air conditioning, a ticketing machine with the possibility of paying with coins and a debit card, CCTV and a modern passenger information system. Inside of the vehicles one will find USB ports for charging smartphones. Each bus is also equipped with a special platform that will facilitate entry and exit for the disabled.
The supply of 38 new articulated buses is carried out in the form of financial leasing. A consortium of Solaris Bus & Coach SA and Millenium Leasing Sp. z o.o. estimated the value the delivery of the new buses at over PLN 75 million gross.
Solaris has been cooperating with MPK Cracow since 1997. During this time, the producer delivered 462 buses to the capital of Lesser Poland Voivodeship, including 26 zero-emission vehicles with electric drive. In January this year, Solaris, in a consortium with Stadler Polska, signed a framework agreement with MPK Cracow for the supply of 50 low-floor trams.
