The 2000th Solaris bus arrived in Germany. Yesterday, Solaris officially delivered its 10 trailer buses to the German operator Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG). Among those vehicles there was the 2000th Solaris bus on the German market.

An 11-metre-long trailer attached to Solaris Urbino gives a boost to the vehicle’s capacity which reaches 130 passengers. Thanks to that, the bus can be a comfortable and cost-efficient alternative to standard articulated buses with comparable passenger capacity. The possibility of flexibly adjusting a vehicle’s length to changing traffic congestion attracted the German operator Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) who ordered 10 Solaris trailer buses.

"One of the vehicle’s advantages is the possibility of coupling up and uncoupling the trailers, accordingly to the demands of traffic congestion. The whole process is fast and easy. Munich is the first German metropoly with more than a million people to have ordered those eco-friendly and cost-efficient vehicles" says Herbert König, MVG Chairman of the Board.

With the delivery of the 10 Urbino trailer buses to Munich Solaris achieved another milestone in its history: the 2000th Solaris bus handed over to the German customer. For this occasion, the vehicle was distinguished with a special taping "MVG operates the 2000th Solaris bus in Germany".

"Being perceived as an innovative and reliable partner by our German clients makes us particularly proud. The delivery of the 2000th Solaris bus to Germany is our company’s success and at the same time a motivation to constantly reach new heights. We would like to thank all our clients who trusted us and developed our cooperation during those 13 years of Solaris’s presence on the German market" says Małgorzata Olszewska, Chairman of Solaris Deutschland Board.

Solaris Bus & Coach entered the German market in 2000 and soon became the largest non-German supplier of buses in this country. So far, Solaris vehicles are operated in over 100 German cities with Berlin, Bremen, Bochum, Düsseldorf, Hannover and Frankfurt am Mein as locations with the biggest number of Solaris buses run by the local operators.
