This week Elche has presented 17 low-emission Solaris Urbino hybrid buses. With the last deliveries, half of the city bus fleet is hybrid, which is an important step towards sustainable public transport. These vehicles will also be joined by 8 new 100% electric Solaris buses which will be delivered to Elche in the second quarter of 2023.
Elche, a city belonging to the province of Alicante, enhances sustainable public transport. The official presentation of the 17 brand new low-emission Urbino 12 hybrid buses took place on October 11. The managing operator of public transport in Elche is Auesa, part of Avanza Group.
Following the last deliveries, Elche already has half of the hybrid city bus fleet - of the 59 existing buses, 28 are hybrid. Hybrid buses manage to significantly reduce fuel consumption. Moreover, they can also be adapted to cover a certain distance completely emission-free.
The comfortable vehicles will offer their passengers, among others, efficient air-conditioning and USB chargers for charging mobile devices during the ride. The newly delivered Solaris buses feature a Mirror Eye system.
In addition, Solaris has been awarded an order by Auesa to supply the city’s first 8 electric buses. The order will be completed in the second quarter of 2023.
